About this spot

Held every year in late July on the bank of the Ibi River (揖斐川), the Ogaki Fireworks Festival is a summer tradition representing western Gifu Prefecture (岐阜県). Fireworks viewed from the bank of the wide Ibi River (揖斐川) spread out overhead with tremendous power, and the shimmer of light reflected on the water's surface creates a fantastical atmosphere unique to the riverside. The night breeze crossing the river feels pleasant, letting you watch in a coolness distinct from a fireworks show in the middle of a city. The barrage of fireworks launched one after another toward the finale is a spectacular sight fitting to cap off the day. Tips

Check on the day of the event whether it will proceed in case of bad weather via official announcements from Ogaki City or the event organizer. Afterward, crowds head toward JR Ogaki Station (JR大垣駅) all at once, so we recommend enjoying the afterglow by the river for a while after the finale before heading home with a staggered departure. Check the return train times in advance. Since it gets dark underfoot, make use of your smartphone's light.
