About this spot

This is a branch office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) responsible for river management of the Ibi River (揖斐川) and Makita River (牧田川), which flow through Ogaki City. It handles the maintenance of river management facilities such as levees, river improvement work like channel dredging, river permit administration, and the issuance of flood forecasts and warnings. Food stalls line the bank of the Ibi River (揖斐川), the venue for the Ogaki Fireworks Festival, as evening approaches. Spread out a leisure sheet on the embankment or riverbed to secure a spot, and spend a relaxed time until sunset in the evening breeze crossing the river.

Tips

The fireworks venue is nearest to JR Ogaki Station (JR大垣駅), about a 15-20 minute walk. Since crowds increase from evening onward, it's reassuring to arrive around 16:00 and secure a spot near the venue. Food at the stalls tends to sell out early, so get yours early. Use the temporary restrooms around the venue early as well.

About 2 hours 50 minutes. Take your time enjoying the view of the river around sunset and the mounting excitement in the air before the show begins
