About this spot
The central town of Gero Hot Spring, one of Japan's three most famous hot springs along with Kusatsu (草津) and Arima (有馬). Along the streets lined with inns, souvenir shops, and restaurants, free-to-use foot bath spots are scattered about, allowing you to ease your tired feet at your leisure. Enjoy the summer hot spring town atmosphere slowly, picking up hot spring buns and hoba miso (朴葉みそ) and other local specialties of the Hida region. The Gero Ohashi Bridge, which will be tonight's fireworks venue, and the Hida River riverbed are also near this area, so familiarizing yourself with the geography around the venue during the day makes the evening smoother.

下呂温泉花火ミュージカル夏公演は、音楽と完全にシンクロした演出が最大の特徴の花火大会です。約10,000発の花火が楽曲に合わせて次々と打ち上がり、単なる花火大会を超えた「ショー」として全国にファンを持ちます。飛騨川の上空に開く大輪の花火は川面に光の帯を落とし、周囲の山々に反響する音が体全体に響く迫力があります。山あいの温泉地という舞台が花火の色と音をひときわ際立たせ、都市部の花火大会とは異なる没入感を生み出します。1日の旅の記憶とともに心に刻まれる、夏の下呂の夜のクライマックスです。
Tips
開催時刻は大会公式情報で事前確認を(時間未定のため)。荒天時の開催可否も公式発表で確認しましょう。終了後は下呂駅周辺や駐車場への帰路が大変混み合います。花火終了後はすぐ移動せず、河川敷で少し余韻を楽しんでから時間差での帰宅がおすすめです。足元が暗くなるので小型ライトを活用してください。

About 15 minutes' walk from Gero Hot Spring Gassho-zukuri Village. Foot baths require no swimwear and can be used if you have a towel (bring one or purchase locally). Hot spring town shops become crowded from evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival, so it's wise to complete souvenir purchases during this time. Be mindful of managing valuables.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes required. An afternoon stroll allows you to move leisurely before evening crowds arrive.
