Omachi Shopping Street (大町商店街), located in the center of Ichinoseki city, is an area where local daily life and festival energy blend together. Before the fireworks festival in the late afternoon, the street begins to buzz with people in yukata and festival preparations. Traditional shops line the street—Japanese confectioneries, bakeries, and everyday goods stores—allowing you to feel Ichinoseki's urban living while strolling. Ichinoseki is known for its "mochi food culture," with Japanese sweet shops selling mochi confections scattered throughout, letting you experience local food culture while walking. Being within walking distance of the fireworks venue makes the transition to evening viewing spot easier.

一関夏まつりのフィナーレを飾る磐井川川開き花火大会は、磐井川の川上から打ち上がる約10,000発の花火が夜空を染め上げる東北屈指の夏の祭典です。川沿いの河川公園から見上げると花火が真上に開くような迫力があり、川面に映る光の帯が揺れる光景は川の花火大会ならではの美しさ。スターマインや大玉が次々と打ち上がるたびに歓声が上がり、最後のフィナーレでは連発の轟音が磐井川の流れに重なって、体全体に響く大迫力の幕引きとなります。今日1日、清流・厳美渓から始まった磐井川との旅の締めくくりにふさわしい、記憶に残る75分間です。

荒天時の開催可否は一関市の公式発表または大会公式情報で必ず当日確認を。終了後は会場周辺と一関駅への道が大混雑するため、フィナーレ後はその場でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから時間差で移動するのがおすすめ。帰りの電車・バスの最終時刻を事前に確認し、時間に余裕を持った行動を心がけましょう。足元が暗い河川敷の帰り道には小さなライトが役立ちます。

Tips

Approximately 5 minutes' walk from Ichinoseki Station. On the summer festival day, some areas are subject to traffic control—enjoy the pedestrian mall that forms. Usui River Park is approximately 10-15 minutes' walk away. Securing drinks at the shopping street before food stalls start appearing in the evening runs smoothly.
