After securing a viewing spot early, make your rounds of the stalls for classic festival fare—yakisoba, fried chicken, shaved ice—to fill your stomach. As darkness falls, the breeze from the river becomes refreshing, and with festival melodies heard from afar, anticipation for the opening builds. Tips

Approximately 10-15 minutes' walk from Omachi Shopping Street. On festival day, crowds build early, so aim to arrive around mid-4 PM. The riverside is breezy and cool but has many mosquitoes—insect repellent spray is essential. Locate restrooms while it's still light. Food stall dining remains crowded even after the fireworks, so eat before the show starts.
