Quietly Tour the National Park Conveying Memories of Disaster and Steps of Recovery

A national memorial and prayer park established at the Takada Matsubara site, which suffered massive damage from the tsunami in the Great East Japan Earthquake. Around 70,000 pine trees once lined the pine grove before the disaster; now a space to mourn the victims and pray for recovery spreads across this location. The park includes facilities to convey memories of the disaster to future generations and areas that retain traces of the former pine grove, allowing visitors to feel both history and nature as they walk slowly through. Takada Matsubara Sports Park (the fireworks venue) is also within the same park area, so you can get a sense of the venue's geography during the daytime.

2026年10月11日(日)19時から20時まで、高田松原運動公園から約15,000発以上が打ち上げられる岩手県有数の大花火大会です。震災からの復興を歩んできた陸前高田の地で開かれるこの花火大会は、地域の人々にとってもこの土地を訪れる人にとっても、特別な意味を持つ一夜です。秋の空は夏に比べて澄んでおり、花火の光がくっきりと夜空に映えます。連発の大玉やスターマインが次々と開くフィナーレは、復興への感謝と前向きな未来への思いを乗せた光の饗宴として、1日の記憶を深く刻んでくれます。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は主催者の公式発表で確認してください。終演後は帰路が混雑するため、フィナーレ後はしばらく会場で余韻を楽しんでから移動するのが安心です。10月の夜は気温が10℃前後まで下がることがあるため、厚手の上着や膝掛けを準備しておきましょう。駐車場やシャトルバスの情報は大会公式サイトで事前に確認を。

Tips

Just a short walk from Michi-no-Eki Takada Matsubara. Strolling through the park is free. The adjacent "Great East Japan Earthquake Tsunami Transmission Museum (Iwate TSUNAMI Memorial)" offers free viewing and allows visitors to learn the outline of the disaster through exhibits (approximately 30-45 minutes required). When visiting with small children, choose your words carefully based on the content of the exhibits.
