About this spot

A unique museum located within Nima Health Park, which serves as the venue for tonight's fireworks display. Its symbol is the "Sand Calendar," housed in a glass cylinder about 5 meters tall, known as the world's largest hourglass where sand takes a full year (365 days) to completely fall through. The museum features abundant scientific exhibits and hands-on experiences related to sand, with content that allows children to learn while having fun. There is also an explanatory corner about the singing sand of Koto ga Hama, which will enhance your enjoyment of the beach you'll visit later. Walking through the venue during the day before it's illuminated by fireworks at night will also help you find good viewing spots more easily.

Tips

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Nima Station on the Sanin Main Line. Admission is approximately ¥600 for adults and ¥300 for children (please check the official website for confirmation). The sand calendar's sand rotation occurs on New Year's Day, so during summer you can view the normal exhibition state. The building is air-conditioned, making it ideal for resting during the hot afternoon. Free parking is available.

Best time to visit

Takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The light through the glass clearly shows the hourglass beautifully during the bright afternoon hours.
