This is a Pure Land Buddhist temple built on a hilltop at the northern edge of the Takehara Machina Preservation District, and its Fumeikan is known as a stage-style hall modeled after Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto. As you climb the stone steps, a spectacular panoramic view awaits you with the red-tiled roofs of the preservation district spread below and the calm Seto Inland Sea stretching beyond. If you take a moment during the day to gaze upon the offshore waters where tonight's fireworks will launch, the day's story will come together as one. Tips

荒天時の開催可否は竹原市または大会主催者の公式発表で当日確認を。終了後は観覧客が一斉に移動するため、JR竹原駅周辺が混雑します。花火終了後は少し時間をおいてから移動するか、乗車予定の電車の時刻を事前に確認しておくと安心です。足元は暗くなるため、スマホのライトを活用してください。

Tips

From the northern side of the preservation district, it's just a few minutes' walk up the stone steps. Admission is free and you can visit freely. Some sections of the stone steps are steep, so please hold hands with small children. The view from the Fumeikan's stage photographs well with a wide-angle lens to capture both the preservation district and the sea.
