This shrine is dedicated to Kincho, the righteous and kindhearted tanuki general who was the hero of the Awa Tanuki War legend, enshrined as 'Kincho Daimyojin' (Great Deity Kincho). According to the tale, Kincho's life was saved by a dye merchant's master, and in gratitude, he brought the shop great prosperity—a story that has made this shrine beloved for its benefits of prosperous business and good fortune. The legendary story has become the subject of an animated film, drawing visitors from across the country, and the shrine is carefully preserved by the devotion of local people. The grounds, surrounded by trees, offer a quiet refuge from the bustle of the harbor town, and searching for tanuki statues scattered throughout while paying respects makes for a perfect post-meal walk during your noodle gourmet exploration.

This is a small shrine nestled in a residential area, so please visit respectfully. Parking is limited, so be mindful of road conditions in the surrounding area. Finding the tanuki statues scattered around the grounds is part of the fun.
