The Summer Fireworks Display that crowns the finale of the Komatsushima Port Festival launches around 2,500 fireworks over the harbor in the Shinko District (新港地区) from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Making full use of the port's wide open space, the great fireworks blooms open one after another, sending bands of light rippling across the water, while the scent of the sea and the sound of the fireworks color the summer night of this port town. Check official announcements from Komatsushima City or the festival organizer in advance for whether the event will proceed in bad weather. Afterward, the surrounding roads and parking lots get very crowded. If you came by car, consider relaxing at the venue for a while after the fireworks end before moving, or consider using public transportation. It's dark underfoot, so having a smartphone light or small flashlight ready will keep your way home safe.
