Watch Approximately 20,000 Magnificent Fireworks Blooming in the Autumn Night Sky from Both Banks of the Yoshino River
About this spot
The Nishi-Awa Fireworks Festival held from 7 PM to 9 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2026. With venues at Mio Health and Disaster Prevention Park in Mio City and Mima Riverside Park in Mima City, approximately 20,000 fireworks are launched into the night sky using the Yoshino River's wide riverbed as the stage. Fireworks deployed dynamically from both riverbanks create an overwhelming scale together with ribbons of light reflected on the river surface. The clear, crisp autumn night sky of November, with few obstructions to the view, allows the colors and brilliance of fireworks to be distinctly visible, a charm unique to late autumn events. The climax of thunderous sound and light that breaks the mountain valley's silence will surely become a memory lasting long in your family's hearts.

Turn this into a day plan with stall time includedTips
In case of bad weather, always confirm the festival's official announcement regarding whether it will be held on the day. After the event ends, parking lot exits and return routes become extremely congested. It's recommended to staggered departures by spending some time relaxing at the venue or surrounding area before leaving. Along the Yoshino River in November, temperatures can drop below 10°C by 9 PM, so be fully prepared with cold-weather gear when viewing.
Best time to visit
Coordinate with the event time of 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It's reassuring to be at your viewing spot 30 minutes before the start.
