The Toyohashi Gion Festival Fireworks Grand Show runs from 6 PM to 9 PM on July 18, 2026 (Saturday), launching approximately 12,000 fireworks from the Toyokawa riverbank—one of eastern Aichi Prefecture's largest fireworks displays. Wide star mines and large shells of chrysanthemum bursts take turns coloring the night sky, and the beauty of the inverted fireworks reflected on the river surface is a unique pleasure of riverside viewing. This three-hour festival features eye-catching performances from successive star mine bursts through the climactic finale. Looking up at the fireworks from the riverside embankment with an open sky around you means there's nothing to obstruct the view, allowing you to feel the full power of the fireworks spreading across the entire sky with your whole body. Check the official announcement from Toyohashi City or the Toyohashi Gion Festival regarding whether the event will be held in case of inclement weather. After the event concludes, surrounding roads and the area around Toyohashi Station become very crowded. After the 9 PM finale, enjoy the lingering atmosphere at the riverbank for a bit, then depart when the crowds have settled down. Check routes to JR Toyohashi Station and Meitetsu Toyohashi Station in advance. Some areas have poor lighting, so carry a light with you.

Best time to visit

Enjoy the entire 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM presentation. Arrive at your viewing spot 30 minutes before opening to settle in comfortably and await the start.
