The Toyohashi Gion Festival Fireworks Display (豊橋祇園祭花火大会) is one of the largest fireworks displays in eastern Aichi Prefecture (愛知県), with about 12,000 shells launched from the bank of the Toyo River (豊川) from 18:00 to 21:00 on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Wide star mines that make the most of the Toyo River's width and large shakudama shells color the night sky one after another, and the beauty of the fireworks reflected upside-down on the water's surface is a special treat unique to riverside viewing. Over this three-hour marathon event, an impressive lineup of programs continues from a barrage of star mines all the way to the climactic finale. Fireworks viewed from the riverside embankment have nothing blocking the open surroundings, letting you feel the power of fireworks spreading across the whole sky with your entire body. A Toyohashi summer night combined with the festive atmosphere of the Gion Festival is bound to become an unforgettable memory.

Check the official announcement from Toyohashi City or the Toyohashi Gion Festival for whether the event will proceed in case of bad weather. Afterward, the surrounding roads and the area around Toyohashi Station become extremely crowded. It's recommended to enjoy the afterglow by the riverside for a while after the 21:00 finale before heading home once the crowds settle down. Check your route to JR Toyohashi Station or Meitetsu Toyohashi Station in advance. Some areas underfoot are dark, so carry a light.
