Next stop: Experience the Vista Line Linking Daijuji Temple, the Family Temple of the Matsudaira and Tokugawa Clans, with Okazaki CastleAbout this spot
A history museum adjacent to Okazaki Castle (岡崎城) that introduces the history of Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川家康公) and the Mikawa samurai through actual artifacts and hands-on exhibits. There are touches throughout to keep children engaged, such as a corner where you can try on samurai armor, detailed dioramas, and video displays about the Battle of Sekigahara (関ケ原合戦). Touring it together with a visit to the main keep of Okazaki Castle lets you get a fuller, more three-dimensional sense of Lord Ieyasu's life. The flow lets you visit continuously from the Okazaki Castle keep, so there's almost no extra travel involved. It's also a good place to cool your body in the museum's air conditioning after walking under the summer sun.
Tips
Located right next to the main keep of Okazaki Castle, so visiting both together is recommended. Admission is 360 yen for adults. Since the park gets crowded from evening onward on the day of the fireworks display, it's best to take your time here during this earlier time slot. Same-day slots for the armor-wearing experience can fill up early.
Best time to visit
About 50 minutes. Cool off in the early afternoon while immersing yourself in the world of history
