Located in Monoi, Moka City, Ninomiya Shrine (二宮神社) enshrines the agricultural reformer Ninomiya Kinjiro (Sontoku) and serves as the local guardian deity whose name inspired tonight's ‘Sontoku Summer Festival THE FINAL Grand Fireworks Display.’ The grounds are shaded by many trees, creating a refreshing space that softens the summer sun. After praying for a safe day, take your time to soak in the shrine's atmosphere. Learning the origin of tonight's fireworks display before watching it adds an extra layer of meaning to the festival. With few tourists around, this shrine offers a rare chance to visit in peace and quiet.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from central Moka City. Parking available. Admission to the shrine grounds is free. Visiting the adjacent Ninomiya Sontoku Museum (二宮尊徳資料館) alongside it will deepen your understanding. The next stop is within walking distance or on the same grounds, so there's little travel involved.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. From morning through early afternoon there are few visitors, so you can stroll the grounds at a relaxed pace.
