From 7:30 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2026, about 2,000 fireworks are launched from Omi-Maiko Nakahama Swimming Beach. With the vast surface of Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake, as the stage, star-mine sequences and large shakudama shells burst one after another across the night sky. The beauty of the upside-down fireworks reflected on the calm lake surface is a spectacular sight unique to an inland lake, and the contrast between the silhouette of the Hira mountain range and the light of the fireworks is breathtaking. Instead of the sound of waves, enjoy about 40 minutes of light and sound from the lakeshore, carried along by a gentle breeze over the water. Tips

Check the organizer's official announcement for whether the event will proceed in bad weather. Omi-Maiko Station gets extremely crowded right after the event ends, so it's a good idea to linger by the lakeshore for a while after the finale and head home a little later. Check the return Kosei Line train times in advance. Since it gets dark underfoot, a light is reassuring to bring.
