Once you've secured your spot, spread out the food you brought or dinner purchased nearby and relax while waiting for the show to begin. The sunset viewed from the western shore of Lake Biwa is a grand-scale scene where the sun slowly sets beyond Mount Hiei and the mountains on the eastern side of the lake. The time when the lake's surface gradually changes color from orange to crimson to deep indigo serves as a special, quiet prelude to the Otsu Shiga Fireworks Festival. Insects become more active along the lake shore in the early evening, so apply insect repellent spray early. As it gets darker, it's finally time for the fireworks to begin.

2026年7月23日(木)19時30分から20時10分まで、近江舞子中浜水泳場から打ち上げられる約2,000発の花火大会です。日本最大の湖・琵琶湖の広大な湖面を舞台に、スターマインや尺玉が次々と夜空に開きます。静かな湖面に映る逆さ花火の美しさは、内陸の湖ならではの絶景で、比良山系の山並みのシルエットと花火の光のコントラストは息をのむ迫力です。波音の代わりに湖面をわたる穏やかな風とともに、約40分間の光と音の競演を湖畔から楽しみましょう。夏の琵琶湖に刻まれる、家族の忘れられない夜の記憶になります。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は主催者の公式発表で確認を。終了直後は近江舞子駅が大変混雑するため、フィナーレ後は湖畔で少し余韻を楽しんでから時間差での帰宅がおすすめ。帰りの湖西線の時刻は事前に調べておきましょう。足元が暗くなるためライトがあると安心です。

Tips

Purchase food and drinks around Omifunako Station or before you depart. On the day of the fireworks, shops and vending machines around the lake shore will be crowded. It's reassuring to identify toilet locations while it's still bright. You may need a light jacket soon after sunset.
