A signature sightseeing area of Nagahama located about a 5-minute walk from JR Nagahama Station. Centered on a black-plastered bank storehouse built in the Meiji era, this is an atmospheric castle-town district filled with glasswork specialty shops, galleries, restaurants, and miscellaneous stores. Nagahama is also known as "Glass Town," and you can spend a delightful time simply viewing handmade glass accessories and dishware. There are many restaurants offering local Kohoku cuisine and dishes made with local ingredients, making it a perfect size to explore while combining lunch and casual eating. On the day of the fireworks festival, the area becomes crowded from late afternoon onward, so it's recommended to take a leisurely walk during the daytime hours.

長浜・北びわ湖大花火大会「長浜の陣」は、琵琶湖の沖合から打ち上げられる花火を豊公園自由広場から楽しむ、秋の長浜の一大イベントです。2026年は9月16日(水)から18日(金)の3日間、毎夜20:00〜20:20に開催されます。広大な琵琶湖の水面の上で開く大輪の花火は遮るものがなく、湖面に映る光の帯とともに迫力ある眺めを楽しめます。9月中旬の涼やかな夜気の中、静かな湖上に響く打ち上げ音は格別で、夏の喧騒とは趣の異なる秋の花火ならではの情緒があります。20分間のダイナミックな演出が、この1日のクライマックスを飾ります。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表で必ず確認してください。終了後は豊公園周辺と長浜駅へ向かう道が混雑するため、フィナーレの余韻を楽しみながら少し時間をおいてから移動するのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるので、ライトを用意して安全に帰路につきましょう。

Tips

About a 5-minute walk from the east exit of JR Nagahama Station. Parking lots within the area tend to fill up from late afternoon on the day of the fireworks, so using the train is more convenient. Since glass souvenirs are fragile, pack your purchases carefully. The next stop, Nagahama Castle History Museum, is about a 10-minute walk away.
