Michi-no-Eki Shirayamasan (道の駅 しらやまさん) in Hakusan City is a regional hub facility offering fresh farm produce grown in the Kaga Plain and local specialty goods. Its direct-sales corner is lined with Ishikawa-grown rice and vegetables and traditional Kaga foods, and just looking at them is enough to work up an appetite. The food corner also serves dishes made with local ingredients, making it a perfect spot to fill up before the evening of fireworks. Buying souvenirs here all at once also means you won't have extra bags to carry after the fireworks. With ample parking, it's an easy-to-use rest stop for families before the show.
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Kinken-gu Shrine (金劔宮), and 15-20 minutes by car to Kawakita Town, the fireworks venue. Ample parking. Summer produce can sell out by the afternoon, so check for anything you want early. On the day of the fireworks, this time of day is less crowded than stopping by in the evening, so you can browse at ease.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. Enjoy local flavors at a leisurely pace in the bright hours before evening.
