Held from 7:10 PM to 8:10 PM on Saturday, August 1, 2026, the Odawara Sakawa River Fireworks Festival (小田原酒匂川花火大会) takes place around Sakawa River Sports Plaza (酒匂川スポーツ広場) and Odawara Ohashi Bridge (小田原大橋). Fireworks launched over the surface of the Sakawa River (酒匂川) spread wide across the night sky while reflecting their light on the water, enjoyed against the grand backdrop of the Hakone (箱根) mountains. Looking up at the fireworks from the wide riverbank, with few obstructions to the view, is one of the appeals of this venue, offering an open, expansive viewing experience. The sound and light of fireworks launching one after another toward the finale color Odawara's summer night vividly.

Tips

In case of bad weather, be sure to check the tournament's official website or announcements from Odawara City on the day. After the event ends, the surrounding roads and Odawara Station (小田原駅) get very congested. After the finale, it's recommended to enjoy the afterglow on the spot for a while before moving, as a time-staggered way home. A small light is reassuring since the ground underfoot is dark.
