About this spot

This plaza is built atop the water treatment facility of the Sakawa Water Reclamation Center (酒匂水再生センター), and features a play area, a multipurpose plaza, a flower-viewing plaza, a fountain pond, and a rest area, all free for anyone to use. On the day of the fireworks festival, food stalls line the area from Odawara Ohashi Bridge (小田原大橋) to Sakawa River Sports Plaza (酒匂川スポーツ広場), so once you've secured your viewing spot, pick up dinner here and spend the time until the show begins in the river breeze.

Tips

The food stalls get increasingly crowded from the evening before the show. Get your food and drinks early. Convenience stores and kiosks around the venue also get crowded, so it's reassuring to prepare drinks in advance. Be sure to dispose of trash at designated spots or take it home with you. Use the restroom during this time as well, in preparation for moving around after dark.

Best time to visit

About 1.5 hours. The atmosphere along the riverbank is especially lively around sunset.
