About this spot

This bridge crosses from Oi Town to Oshima Peninsula (大島半島) and is a scenic spot where you can experience the beautiful seascape of Wakasa Bay up close. From the bridge, you get a sweeping view of the islands scattered across the bay and the intricate terrain of the ria coastline, letting you feel the richness of Wakasa's sea. Oshima Peninsula still retains a peaceful fishing-village landscape, and just crossing the bridge and taking a loop around lets you enjoy the scent of the tide and scenery characteristic of Wakasa. Wakasa Bay, viewed in the soft light before evening, has a different expression from the blue sea of daytime, and it's exceptional, building anticipation for tonight's fireworks viewing.

Tips

Just a few minutes' drive from Uminpia Oi (うみんぴあ大飯). The bridge can be windy on some days, so be careful your hat or belongings don't blow away. Some sections within Oshima Peninsula have narrow roads, so drive carefully when passing other vehicles. Make sure you allow time to head back toward the fireworks venue by around 5pm.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. The afternoon light reflecting off the sea surface makes the blue of Wakasa Bay stand out most at this time.
