About this spot

This is the lawn plaza of Narumi Green Space (成海緑地), part of Uminpia Oi (うみんぴあ大飯), adjacent to the Fukui Prefectural Children and Family Museum (福井県こども家族館). A lawn and observation plaza facing the sea spread out here, letting you sit on a bench and gaze leisurely at the water. Another draw is being able to see all the way to the Aoto-no-Ohashi Bridge (青戸の大橋) and Mt. Aoba (青葉山), known as Wakasa Fuji. Once you've claimed your viewing spot, spread out the meal you brought or dinner picked up from food stalls and wait for the show to begin. As the sun sets, the crowd grows, so it's wise to take care of restrooms and drinks while it's still light.

Tips

On the day of the fireworks, parking lots and roads around the venue get crowded from evening onward. Get your food and drinks early during this time, and note that stalls and convenience stores can sell out quickly. Even though it's September, coastal nights can turn cool, so keep a light jacket on hand.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 5 minutes. Wakasa Bay at sunset is one of the most beautiful times of the day.
