About this spot

This spacious riverside park, developed along the lower reaches of the Onga River, features a lawn plaza and a walking path that runs along the water. It sits close to the area upstream of Ashiya Bridge (芦屋橋), where tonight's fireworks will be launched, so you can check the terrain and sightlines along the river while it is still light out. On summer afternoons the river breeze blows through, and simply sitting in the shade of the trees and watching the water flow is refreshing. The wide lawn gives children plenty of room to run around, making it a great place to burn off energy before the main fireworks event.

Tips

Within walking distance of central Ashiya Town. On the day of the fireworks, the parking lot starts filling up early, so consider using public transportation or walking instead. Some areas along the river have little shade, so bring a folding umbrella or hat as sun protection.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. It's best enjoyed in the afternoon, when the breeze feels pleasant and you can relax
