About this spot

The riverbank near the mouth of the Onga River, upstream of Ashiya Bridge and close to tonight's launch site, is the main viewing area. From evening onward the riverbank fills up with people staking out spots, so arriving sometime between 17:00 and 18:00 to spread out your picnic sheet is the ideal timing. On the day of the festival, food stalls line the area around the venue, so you can enjoy the lively summer-festival atmosphere while having dinner. Watching the surface of the Onga River turn the colors of the sunset is a front-row view before the fireworks begin, so take your time enjoying the sky's colors as they shift moment by moment. Once the sun goes down the river breeze turns cool, so use this time to get a light jacket ready.

Tips

On the day of the fireworks, the riverbank parking lots can fill up early. Check the shuttle bus or the walking route from the nearest station in advance. Be sure to take any trash from food-stall items with you rather than leaving it behind. Temporary restrooms are set up, but they get long lines, so use them early.

About 2 hours 50 minutes. Relaxing while watching the sunset on the river's surface is the biggest pleasure of this time
