Located in the center of Wakamatsu Ward, this quay area faces Donkai Bay. The Wakato Bridge, viewed from the ferry terminal, is a symbol of Kitakyushu, known as Asia's largest suspension bridge when it opened in 1962. Tonight, fireworks will be launched with this bridge as the backdrop. The retro warehouse district and stone buildings that convey the history of supporting modern industry as a coal export port remain along the bay shore, and simply strolling through the atmosphere of a port town elevates your travel mood. The Wakato Ferry is a small municipal boat that costs around 100 yen for adults and is popular with children as a mini boat trip.

くきのうみ花火の祭典は、若戸大橋を間近に望む洞海湾を舞台に繰り広げられる北九州を代表する花火大会です。約4,500発の花火が洞海湾の夜空を染め上げ、湾の水面に映える光の帯と橋のシルエットが重なる光景は、港町・北九州ならではの迫力と情緒を持ちます。秋の開催のため夏の花火大会とは異なる澄んだ夜空に花火の色が鮮やかに映え、涼しい潮風の中での観覧は格別です。40分間のプログラムが終わるころには、洞海湾の夜景とともに忘れられない秋の夜の思い出が刻まれているはずです。

開催日は2026年10月24日(土)19:00〜19:40。荒天時の開催可否は主催者の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は若松区内の道路が混雑するため、フィナーレ後しばらく岸壁で余韻を楽しんでから帰路につく時間差移動がおすすめです。車の方は事前に駐車場の場所を確認しておきましょう。

Tips

About 5 minutes walk from JR Wakamatsu Station. The Wakato Ferry runs frequently, and round trips to the Tobata side across the bay are easy. The quay is breezy, so wearing long sleeves is comfortable even on autumn afternoons. There are restaurants and shops in the surrounding area, so having a light lunch in this area makes the afternoon more flexible.
