About this spot

This park is developed atop 124-meter-high Mt. Kotozan, not far from the center of Wakamatsu Ward. From the observation deck you can look almost straight down on Dokai Bay and Wakato Bridge, and on a clear day the view extends all the way to the Hibiki Sea. It's an excellent viewpoint for checking out the full sweep of Dokai Bay, tonight's fireworks venue, during the day, and it also helps you picture candidate viewing spots. Besides the observation deck, the summit has a walking path and a lawn plaza, with plenty of space for children to run around. Autumn is also when the leaves start to turn, so you can enjoy the mountain's mix of green and red colors.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from the Wakamatsu Pier area, or you can take a bus from the Wakamatsu Station direction. If you walk the path to the summit, wear comfortable shoes. The observation deck is free to use, and restrooms are available. On windy days the summit gets cold, so don't forget a jacket.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. In the clear afternoon air, take a good look at the Dokai Bay scenery before the fireworks begin
