The Kuki-no-umi Fireworks Festival is Kitakyushu's leading fireworks show, unfolding over Dokai Bay with Wakato Bridge close at hand. About 4,500 fireworks color the night sky over Dokai Bay, and the sight of the band of light reflected on the bay's surface overlapping with the bridge's silhouette carries a power and atmosphere unique to the port town of Kitakyushu. Since it's held in autumn, the fireworks' colors stand out vividly against a clearer night sky than at a summer festival, and watching in the cool sea breeze is something special. By the time the 40-minute program ends, you should have unforgettable memories of an autumn night carved alongside the night view of Dokai Bay.
