About this spot

This roadside station, gathering local bounty, is located right next to the Nihonmatsu Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. The Nakadori region of Fukushima Prefecture is known as a major production area for fruit such as peaches, apples, and pears, and the summer sales floor is lined with freshly picked vegetables and seasonal fruit lovingly grown by local farmers. The food court also offers set meals, soba noodles, and soft-serve ice cream made with local ingredients. Since the day of the fireworks festival is expected to be especially crowded, it's reassuring to stop by early in the day to buy souvenirs and get a meal.

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from the Nihonmatsu IC on the Tohoku Expressway, and about 15 minutes by car from JR Motomiya Station. The parking lot is spacious. Keep fruit purchased as souvenirs cool in a car cooler box or insulated bag. From evening onward it gets crowded with fireworks visitors, so it's recommended to finish your shopping during this earlier time.
