About this spot

This nature park spreads across a gently sloping plateau at an elevation of 720 to 850 meters on the southern slope of Mount Bandai. It was developed to mark the 21st National Tree-Planting Festival in 1970, and the red pine and larch trees planted at that time have grown into forest. At the center of the “Showa Plaza” stands a lookout point, where you can take in a panoramic view of Lake Inawashiro alongside panels marking the positions of the surrounding mountains. Take your time enjoying the sweeping view of the lake from this elevated spot, bathed in daylight.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Inawashiro Station. The lakeside promenade is paved and easy to walk even for small children. Midsummer sunlight is strong, so a hat and sunscreen are essential. Watch your footing when approaching the water's edge. It's smoothest to pick up lunch around Inawashiro Station or at a roadside station before heading here.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. This is the time of day when the contrast between the blue sky and the lake's surface is at its most beautiful.
