Leisurely walk along the cherry tree-lined embankment and fully enjoy spring in Kakunodate
About this spot
Along the embankment of the Hinoki-gi River flowing through Kakunodate Town, approximately 2 kilometers of Somei Yoshino cherry trees create a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. The trees typically bloom from mid to late April each year and are designated as a National Natural Monument. Around April 25, the cherry blossoms may have peaked slightly, but the pale green of emerging leaves and the flowing river create their own charm. Easily accessible by a short walk from the samurai mansion avenue, leisurely strolling atop the spacious embankment lets you experience the full atmosphere of spring in Kakunodate with all your senses. It's also a good opportunity to get some light exercise before the evening fireworks.

2026年4月25日(土)19時から20時30分まで、秋田県大仙市・雄物川河畔の「大曲の花火」公園を会場に開催される、大曲の花火 春の章「新作花火コレクション2026 世界の花火 日本の花火」です。打ち上げ数は約8,000発。世界と日本の花火師がその年の新作を発表し合うコレクション形式のプログラムは、8月の全国花火競技大会と並ぶ大曲ならではの花火イベントです。各花火師が趣向を凝らした新作を次々と披露するため、1発ごとに異なる個性と技術を楽しめるのが最大の魅力。春の澄んだ夜空に開く大輪の花火は、夏の大会とはまた異なる鮮やかさと静けさを持ち、川面に映る光の帯とともに忘れられない夜の記憶を刻んでくれます。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は大仙市・大会公式サイトの発表を必ず確認してください。終了後はJR大曲駅周辺が大変混雑します。帰りの電車・バスの時刻を事前に調べ、混雑のピークを少しずらして帰宅するのがおすすめです。会場は4月下旬でも夜間は非常に冷えるため、厚手の防寒着は必携。足元が暗いエリアもあるので小型ライトがあると安心です。

About 5-10 minutes walk from the samurai mansion avenue. Admission is free. Since cherry blossom bloom times vary by year, check Senboku City's tourism information in advance. Return to Omagari via JR Kakunodate Station. On the fireworks day, special train services may be available, so check the Akita Inland Vertical Railway and JR schedules in advance.
Best time to visit
Takes approximately 45 minutes. Walking along the embankment in the soft afternoon light is pleasant.
