Noshiro Port Shimohama Wharf Special Venue (能代港下浜ふ頭特設会場)

Flow of the course

About this spot

The Minato Matsuri Noshiro Fireworks is a grand fireworks display of about 15,000 fireworks launched from the special venue at Noshiro Port's Shimohama Wharf. The grand bursts blooming over the port facing the Sea of Japan have nothing to block the view, and the scale that makes full use of the night sky stretching beyond the horizon is overwhelming. A varied program of star mine and large shakudama fireworks unfolds over 1 hour 30 minutes, with the booming sound echoing across the port and the sea breeze stimulating all five senses. The reflection of the fireworks on the water's surface is also beautiful, letting you enjoy scenery unique to a seaside fireworks festival. Look up from the wharf at the finale of one of Tohoku's premier fireworks festivals, a fitting close to summer in Noshiro.

Tips

It may be canceled or postponed in case of bad weather or strong winds. Be sure to check the official announcements from Noshiro City or the Minato Matsuri executive committee on whether it will proceed on the day. Roads around the venue get crowded after it ends. Rather than moving right after the show finishes, it's easier to avoid crowds by enjoying the afterglow at the venue for a while before heading home at a staggered time. Use a flashlight or your smartphone's light, as the footing will get dark.

Best time to visit

Time your visit to the event hours of 7:30-9:00 p.m. Secure your viewing spot 30 minutes before the show begins
