An ancient shrine nestled on the mountainside of Mayama (真山), a sacred mountain of the Oga Peninsula, known as the origin of the Namahage ritual. The pathway lined with towering cedar trees exudes a cool atmosphere even in midsummer, enveloped in a serene air befitting a sacred place. In addition to worshipping at the main hall, the grounds feature displays and spaces introducing traditions connected to Namahage, making it an ideal introduction to experiencing Oga's culture firsthand. Cherished year-round by local people, the shrine offers relatively leisurely worship on the day of the fireworks festival. Simply sitting beneath the cedar trees provides a sense of the deep natural energy of Mayama.

男鹿日本海花火は、OGAマリンパーク特設会場の目の前に広がる日本海の海上から打ち上げられる花火大会です。遮るものが何もない水平線を背景に開く大輪の花火は、海辺ならではの開放感と迫力があります。波の音に重なる打ち上げ音が潮風とともに体に響き、夜の日本海を大きく照らす光の瞬間は、言葉では表しきれない美しさです。砂浜に寝転んでそのまま夜空を見上げれば、星と花火が交差する男鹿の夏の夜を全身で感じることができます。8月14日の夜、日本海の夏を締めくくる特別な花火です。

Tips

開催時刻・打上数・荒天時の対応については、大会公式の発表を必ず事前に確認してください。終了後は駐車場や帰り道が大変混雑します。終了直後は焦らず、砂浜で余韻を楽しんでから移動すると安全です。足元が暗いためスマホのライトを活用しましょう。

Tips

Approximately 25 minutes by car from Oga Station (男鹿駅). You can use Mayama Shrine's parking lot. The pathway within the grounds features stone tiles and gravel, so wear comfortable sneakers. The nearby Mayama Tradition Hall (真山伝承館) also offers Namahage performance experience programs (advance confirmation required).
