About this spot
Built in 1884 (Meiji 17) as a state guest house for the prefecture, this wooden Japanese-style structure is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Comprising three buildings—the main hall, annex, and tea house—it showcases refined Meiji-era craftsmanship and a meticulously maintained Japanese garden. Adjacent to Maebashi Park, visitors can easily stop by while strolling through the park. Viewing the interior of this rare Meiji-era guest house provides children a valuable opportunity to directly experience the construction methods of historic buildings.

開催時間は例年変動するため、当日の公式情報を必ず確認してください。荒天時は中止または延期となる場合があります。終了後は会場周辺の道路が大変混雑し、バス・タクシーも捕まりにくくなります。余韻を楽しみながら人の流れが落ち着くのを待ってから移動する時間差帰宅がおすすめです。足元が暗くなるためライトを用意し、川沿いの段差に注意して歩きましょう。

Located at one corner of Maebashi Park, just a short walk from the park. Admission: ¥210 for adults, free for middle school students and under (2024 rates—confirm before visiting). Some interior rooms require removing shoes, so wear slip-on footwear for convenience. Self-guided viewing takes approximately 30–40 minutes.
Best time to visit
Approximately 50 minutes required. Visiting the cool interior during the intense midday heat also provides a welcome rest.
