A park developed from the ruins of Shimodate Castle located near Shimodate Station (下館駅) in the central part of Chikusei City. Shimodate Castle, which once prospered as the residence of the Mizutani clan and others, is now a quiet castle ruins park beloved by local residents, surrounded by stone monuments and greenery. It's an ideal place to rest in the shade while appreciating the history of Shimodate, which developed as a castle town. Traces of old streets from the castle town era remain in the surrounding area, and a leisurely walk reveals the depth of Chikusei's local culture.
