The Isahaya Manto Kawa Matsuri is a summer tradition of Isahaya City held every year along the Honmyo River, with about 2,500 fireworks lighting up the night sky. Launched from over the river, the fireworks appear large right in front of you from the riverside, and the flickering light reflected on the water's surface makes the nighttime riverside scene even more striking. The sound that echoes through the town with every burst, and the way the festival's excitement mingles with the summer night air, make for a truly special time. The climax of continuous bursts leading up to the finale has a power befitting the finish of this one-day journey. Please check whether the event will go ahead in case of bad weather via announcements from Isahaya City or the official festival organizers. After the show, the roads from around the Honmyo River toward Isahaya Station become very congested. Rather than moving right away, it is recommended to enjoy the lingering atmosphere by the river for a while and head home after the crowds thin out. Check parking lot and public transportation schedules for your return trip in advance.
