Located near Kuchinotsu Port, this museum carefully introduces the history of Kuchinotsu as an international port town where Portuguese ships docked during the 16th-century Nanban trade era. The museum features rich exhibits unique to this region, including models of Nanban ships, ancient maps, and Christian-related materials. It also introduces the folk traditions and fishing history of the Shimabara and Amakusa regions, allowing visitors to learn about the development of the port town while fostering familiarity with the Kuchinotsu sea where tonight's fireworks will light up. On the day of the fireworks festival, the afternoon is relatively uncrowded, making it ideal for leisurely viewing in the cool museum. It's the perfect first stop for spending the hot midday hours in a refreshing environment.
