The Shimabara Onsen Gamadasu Fireworks Festival is a summer tradition in which about 2,000 fireworks color the night sky over the Ariake Sea. 'Gamadasu' is a word in the Shimabara dialect meaning 'to do one's best,' and the festival has long been loved by local residents. Fireworks launched from the sea have nothing to obstruct them, so you can enjoy the great blossoms of light opening head-on in the wide night sky over the Ariake Sea.
