Bathe in the famous Thousand Person Bath in an early Showa-period Western building and refresh yourself
About this spot
Built in 1928 (Showa 3), this Renaissance-style Western building is designated as a national Important Cultural Property. Constructed by the Katakura financial conglomerate for the benefit of local residents, it continues to operate as a public bathhouse daily. The signature attraction is the spacious bath called "Thousand Person Bath" (千人風呂) with a depth of approximately 1 meter and a pebbled bottom. Soaking in the simple sulfur hot spring welling up from the bottom of Suwa Lake while gazing at the ornate bathing chamber adorned with stained glass and sculptures is a truly special experience. Before the evening fireworks, take time to relax your body in the hot spring.

諏訪湖祭湖上花火大会は、毎年8月15日に開催される諏訪の夏の最大の祭典です。諏訪湖の湖上から打ち上げられる花火は、四方を山に囲まれた盆地の地形によって音が反響し、体の芯まで響く大迫力。静かな湖面に映る「逆さ花火」の美しさも、湖上花火大会ならではの見せ場です。夜空を彩る花火と山々のシルエット、そして湖面に広がる光の競演は、信州の夏を締めくくるにふさわしいスケールの光景。フィナーレに向けて次々と打ち上がる連発の迫力は圧巻で、この夏いちばんの思い出になるはずです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は大会公式発表で事前に確認を。終了後はJR上諏訪駅および周辺道路が非常に混雑します。フィナーレ後はすぐに動かず、湖畔で余韻を楽しんでから時間差で帰宅するのがおすすめです。足元が暗い場所もあるため、小さなライトを持っておくと安心です。
Tips
Approximately 5 minutes on foot from JR Kami-Suwa Station, right on the Suwa Lake shore. Admission is 750 yen for adults (as of 2024; subject to change). Bring your own towel or purchase one at the facility. The early afternoon hours offer a more relaxed bathing experience than the crowded early evening. Photography inside the bathing area is not permitted.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. Refreshing yourself in the hot spring in the afternoon before the fireworks is recommended.
