The Suwa Lake shore in the early evening is particularly beautiful, as the sun sets over the western mountain range and the lake surface gradually transforms from orange to indigo—one of the most stunning moments of the day. On the festival day, food stalls and temporary vendors line the lakeshore, so purchase your dinner here and enjoy it at your viewing location. Since Suwa sits in a basin surrounded by mountains, temperatures drop in the evening and beyond, so have a light jacket easily accessible for comfort. As darkness falls, the silhouettes of the surrounding mountains deepen, and anticipation for the fireworks display naturally builds.

Tips

It is recommended to purchase drinks and light snacks early. After early evening, vendors and stalls become extremely crowded and items may sell out. Nearby convenience stores also begin to get congested after early afternoon. Always place trash in a bag you bring with you and take it with you.
