About this spot

About a 10-minute drive from Emukae, this riverside park is set along the Sasa River and lets you experience the countryside and river nature of Kitamatsuura up close. It has a grassy plaza and a riverside promenade, with plenty of open space for children to run around freely. In the afternoon, with some time before the evening fireworks, letting the kids play outside in the river breeze rather than sit in a stuffy car will help keep them going until nightfall. Around 3pm, when the summer sun softens, it's also a good time to spread a leisure sheet in the cool shade and take a break.

Tips

About a 15-minute drive from Emukae to Sasa via National Route 204. Check the park's parking area before you head there. Since you'll need to be back at the Emukae festival venue by evening, manage your time so you can leave by 4:30pm. If you plan to play in the river, bringing a change of clothes and sandals you don't mind getting wet is handy.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. From around 3pm, when the afternoon sun softens, through early evening is the most pleasant time to be here
