As the sun begins to set, food stalls and vendors line the festival grounds throughout the Emukai Town area, and the festival excitement builds to a crescendo. Purchase classic festival foods like grilled noodles, takoyaki (octopus balls), and fried chicken here to have your evening meal. Food stalls become increasingly crowded as darkness falls, so purchasing between 5 and 6 p.m. is a smart choice. After you finish eating, settle into a comfortable viewing spot with a good view of both the lanterns and fireworks, and wait for the show to begin. As the lanterns are lit and the entire town becomes bathed in orange light, savor this special moment only visible here.

江迎千灯篭まつりのクライマックスを飾る花火です。「千灯篭」の名のとおり、町のいたるところに灯篭が飾られ、日が暮れるとその光が町全体を幻想的に包みます。そのなかで夜空に打ち上がる花火は、灯篭の光と相まって他の花火大会にはない情緒ある光景をつくり出します。灯篭が揺れる通りに立ちながら夜空を見上げる体験は、長崎の夏まつりならではの贈りもの。家族それぞれの目に映るその光景が、今年の夏の大切な記憶になるはずです。
Tips
花火の打ち上げ時刻や詳細は大会公式の発表で事前に確認してください。荒天時は中止または順延になる場合があります。終了後は会場周辺の道路と駐車場が混雑するため、花火終了後はしばらく会場内でゆっくりして、混雑が落ち着いてから移動するのがおすすめです。
Tips
The festival grounds and surrounding areas become very congested on the festival day, and parking fills up early. Use of public transportation or securing parking well in advance is strongly recommended. Payment at food stalls is cash-based, so prepare small change. Locate restroom facilities in advance.
