This unique museum of Shinano Town features fossils and skeletal remains of Naumann elephants and giant-horned deer discovered during excavations of the Nojiri Lake lake bed. Using abundant original materials and models, it clearly introduces the fact that about 40,000 years ago, large prehistoric creatures inhabited the shores of what is now Nojiri Lake. For children, the fossils are no less impressive than dinosaurs, captivating their eyes with their scale, while adults will find their imaginations stirred by the ancient form of Nojiri Lake. With its compact exhibition space, you can tour it in just the right amount of time before lunch. Once you know that the lake where tonight's fireworks will light up the sky was once a paradise for large prehistoric animals, the evening fireworks will feel all the more profound.

2026年7月25日(土)19時30分から20時30分にかけて、信濃町・野尻湖上で開催される花火大会です。湖の上から打ち上がる約2,000発は、四方を囲む黒姫山や妙高山などの山々に音が反響し、体の芯まで響く迫力があります。静かな湖面に映り込む「逆さ花火」の美しさは湖上花火ならではの名物で、空と水面の両方で花火が開く光景は見る者を圧倒します。街明かりの少ない高原の夜空に大きく開く花火は、都市部の花火とは比べものにならない星空との競演も魅力のひとつ。涼しい夜風とともに楽しむ1時間は、夏の信濃町の最高のクライマックスです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は信濃町の公式発表で当日確認してください。終了後は湖畔周辺の道路と駐車場が混雑するため、車の場合は時間差での移動がおすすめです。夜の湖畔は照明が少なく足元が暗いため、小さなライトを手元に用意しておきましょう。高原の夜は真夏でも気温が下がるので、羽織ものは必ず持参してください。
