Unfolding on the Abe River (安倍川) riverbed in Shizuoka City's Aoi Ward, this is one of Shizuoka's signature summer fireworks festivals. Fireworks are launched on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. With little to obstruct the view, large shells and starmine bursts fill the wide riverside sky with tremendous impact, and the shimmering reflections on the river's surface further enhance the fireworks' beauty. Watching the summer night sky in the Abe River breeze marks a special moment in Shizuoka's short summer. The finale, when a rapid series of shells paints the night sky, is a fitting climax to the day.

Tips

In case of bad weather, check Shizuoka City's or the event's official information on the day for whether it will proceed. Afterward, the surrounding roads and pedestrian traffic toward Shizuoka Station get very crowded. Rather than moving right away after the finale, it's recommended to linger on the riverbed a while to enjoy the afterglow before heading home once the crowds have thinned. Try to stagger your return using Shizutetsu buses or on foot.
