About this spot
An observation facility built on the summit of Nihondaira (日本平), symbolized by a beautiful wooden structure renovated in 2018. From the three-level observation deck, Shimizu Port, Suruga Bay, Mount Fuji, the Southern Alps (南アルプス), and the Izu Peninsula spread out in a 360-degree panorama, selected as one of "Japan's 100 Best Night Views." The Nihondaira Hotel outdoor garden, tonight's fireworks venue, is also nearby. Familiarizing yourself with the terrain and scenery around the venue during daytime makes the nighttime viewing even more enjoyable. The time period before sunset, when the sky continuously changes color, is particularly beautiful—a place to linger and enjoy the evening breeze.

日本平ホテル野外庭園を会場に開催される、2026年7月22日(水)の日本平まつり大花火ショーです。打上数は約10,000発、19時15分から20時00分までの45分間にわたって駿河湾の夜空を彩ります。駿河湾を見渡す高台からの眺めは開放感が抜群で、海を背景に打ち上がる大輪の花火は迫力と美しさが格別です。清水港の夜景の上に咲き乱れる光の饗宴は、まさに日本平ならではの絶景。フィナーレの連発が夜空を埋め尽くす瞬間に、この1日のすべての感動が重なります。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は大会公式発表で当日確認してください。終了後は日本平からの下山道と周辺道路が大変混雑します。花火終了後しばらく庭園内で余韻を楽しんでから、落ち着いた頃に帰路につくと安心です。帰りのバス・車の時刻と混雑は必ず事前に計画しておきましょう。足元が暗くなるので、スマホのライトや小型懐中電灯があると便利です。
Tips
Access to Nihondaira by bus on the Shizutetsu Just Line or by car. Admission to Nihondaira Yume Terrace is free. Adjacent Nihondaira Ropeway (日本平ロープウェイ) also provides access to Kunou-san Toshogu Shrine (久能山東照宮) area (ropeway is paid). The observation deck in the evening can be windy, so bringing a cardigan is reassuring.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. Before and after sunset, the sky colors are beautiful, and the time when lights begin appearing in Shimizu Port is the perfect photo-timing moment.
