About this spot

The climax of the Tadotsu Port Festival is a fireworks display of about 3,000 shells launched from Tadotsu Port. Thanks to its location facing the Seto Inland Sea, you can enjoy the fireworks amid a grand panorama spreading across both sky and sea. The way the fireworks' light shimmers as it reflects on the port's water surface is also a highlight unique to a seaside fireworks display. The continuous barrage of shells launched one after another toward the finale can be felt with your whole body, together with the scent of the sea and the night breeze off the port. The fireworks that close out this historic port town's summer festival are beloved by locals as a hallmark of a Kagawa summer.

Tips

Be sure to check the official announcement on the day for the exact start time (undecided at the time this information was written). Also check official information for whether the event will proceed in bad weather. After the fireworks end, the route back to JR Tadotsu Station gets crowded, so rather than moving right away, it's recommended to enjoy the afterglow at the port for a while and head home once the crowd thins. It gets dark underfoot, so use your phone's flashlight.
