Next stop: Claim a Spot and Have Dinner at the Venue, Waiting for the Show Amid the Bustling Food StallsAbout this spot
A facility conveying the history and folklore of Isa City (formerly Okuchi City and Hishikari Town), displaying local farming tools, everyday items, and documentary materials. Through these actual artifacts, you can experience the changes in the lives of people rooted in this basin surrounded by the mountains of Kyushu. Learning about the historical background of the Hishikari district, also the venue for the fireworks display, makes tonight's festival feel closer to home. The old tools and glimpses of past daily life are also unusual and interesting for children, naturally prompting questions in front of the exhibits. Being able to stop by for a cool indoor rest is also a welcome point on a summer afternoon.
Tips
Admission is around 200 yen for adults (check the latest rate on site). The museum is air-conditioned, making it ideal for a break on a summer afternoon too. Opening hours vary by facility, so check Isa City's tourism information in advance before visiting. It's about 10-15 minutes by car to the venue, Hishikari Sports Park.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. A cool indoor break before evening
