Known as a major pearl farming area, Ago Bay (英虞湾) is a scenic ria coast where more than sixty islands large and small float on the water. From the viewpoints you can take in the beauty of the many islands, woven together by the calm sea surface dotted with pearl rafts and the green islets, enjoying scenery unique to Shima (志摩). Spending time leisurely while feeling the sea breeze also becomes a chance to settle your mood ahead of the afternoon at the pool. Gazing at the sea with your children and telling them this is a pearl-producing region is another pleasure of the trip.
Tips
There are parking lots near the observation decks and the sightseeing boat pier, making it an easy spot to stop by car. The sun is strong in summer, so choosing shady places for breaks makes it comfortable.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 20 minutes. The morning, before the sun gets strong, is the most comfortable
