Next stop: Visit the Historic Lighthouse That Has Watched Over Ishikari BayAbout this spot
This dune park spreads out right by Ishikari Beach, with a boardwalk maintained along the coastline. In summer, coastal plants bloom, including Hokkaido's flower, the hamanasu (Japanese rose), letting you observe up close the scenery unique to sand dunes. The boardwalk is flat and easy to walk, making it suitable for strolling with a stroller. From the viewing area you can enjoy a sweeping view of Ishikari Bay, making it the perfect place to start your day while taking in the sea you're about to swim in.
Tips
It is close to Asobeach Ishikari as well, and access from the parking lot is good. There is little shade in summer, so prepare a hat and sunscreen before setting out. Some parts of the boardwalk are narrow, so it is reassuring to give way to each other when passing.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. The morning, before temperatures rise fully, is recommended for easy walking
