About this spot

This historic lighthouse stands near the mouth of the Ishikari River, and has watched over the safety of ships passing through Ishikari Bay since the Meiji era. Viewing the lighthouse itself is mainly about its exterior, but the surrounding area offers open views, making it a spot where you can leisurely take in the horizon of Ishikari Bay. You can feel the sea breeze while experiencing the lighthouse's presence up close, and it is also popular as a photo spot. It is close to Hamanasu-no-Oka Park, making it an easy stop to continue your morning stroll.

Tips

There is little large shade in the area, so stay hydrated frequently in summer. You may not be able to enter the interior of the lighthouse, so enjoy it mainly for viewing the exterior and taking photos.
