A morning spent in the cape forest and observation deck overlooking Tokyo Bay

About this spot

Taibusamisaki (大房岬), in Tomiura-cho, Minamiboso City (南房総市富浦町), is a spot where the whole cape jutting into Tokyo Bay (東京湾) has been developed as a natural park. Walking paths run through a forest of broadleaf evergreens, and walking to the observation deck at the tip of the cape lets you see the Miura Peninsula (三浦半島) and even Mt. Fuji (富士山) across Tokyo Bay on clear days. It is just right for getting a little exercise before sea bathing, and with plenty of tree shade it stays relatively cool even on a summer morning. Tunnels and gun battery remains that convey its history as a former military site also remain, making it a nature walking course that adults and children can both enjoy. It is a perfect quiet detour before heading to Tadara Kitahama and Toyooka Beach (多田良北浜・豊岡海水浴場).

南房総市の多田良北浜・豊岡海水浴場は、2026年は7月17日(金)から8月16日(日)まで開設される、南房総らしい落ち着いた雰囲気の海水浴場です。都心から近い有名ビーチに比べて人出が穏やかで、家族でゆったり波遊びや砂遊びを楽しめるのが魅力です。午前の岬散策と道の駅での腹ごしらえを終えたら、いよいよこの海がクライマックス。波打ち際で水しぶきを上げたり、砂のお城を作ったりと、思い思いの過ごし方で夕方まで南房総の海を満喫しましょう。

Tips

設備の詳細は事前に南房総市の公式情報で確認するのがおすすめです。日差しを避けるレジャーシートやテントを持参すると快適に過ごせます。夏の砂浜は熱くなるので、ビーチサンダルは必携です。帰り支度の時間も見込んで、余裕を持って切り上げましょう。

Tips

It is a fair walk along the footpath from the parking lot to the observation deck, so easy-to-walk shoes are recommended. Insect repellent spray is reassuring in summer. The path to the observation deck is undulating, with sections that are difficult with a stroller.
